About

Townsend Teague is a respected voice on the topics of company formation and organizational development, focused primarily on Broadway, entertainment technology, and media businesses. Over the course of 20+ years, he has collaborated with many of the world's leading producers and creatives and held senior positions (Producer, General Manager, and Company Manager) on a multitude of domestic and international productions. Select titles include An American In Paris, Annie, 42nd Street, Ghost, Bring It On, West Side Story, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Catch Me If You Can, Cats, Les Misérables, Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, The Norman Conquests, Gypsy, Radio Golf, and Mel Brooks' The Producers. He has received the NY Drama Critics Circle Award and nominations from The Drama League, Drama Desk, and Tony Awards for his work as a Producer.

 

Recognized as one of the top advisors to Broadway producers, business owners, and those seeking to have their interests represented before the entertainment industry, Townsend is a proven leader, collaborator, communicator, and motivator with extensive experience originating opportunities for creators, entertainment asset holders, and those with or seeking financial interests. With a knack for identifying lesser-known revenue sources among entertainment ventures, he has demonstrated a unique ability to develop hypotheses, perform diligence, price, and recommend terms. This work has involved technology driven companies, including Arilyn, a management system for creative brands and professionals to create, manage and publish augmented reality content; TodayTix, a digital ticketing platform for theatrical and cultural experiences; ProductionPro, a portal for production collaboration in film, television, and theater; and others. He has additionally been involved as an advisor to both domestic and international production companies, on matters related to investments, acquisitions, and operations; and to entertainment investment funds, reviewing and making recommendations on overall approach, value propositions and financial modeling. He is proud to have originated 8-figure deals tied to some of the most recognized theatrical titles in the world.

 

Townsend is a member of the Board of Directors at The Drama League, where he serves on the Executive Committee (Treasurer), Finance Committee (Chair), and Awards Committee (Chair). He enjoys volunteering for various entertainment industry causes. Highlights include Broadway Bets, the annual poker tournament benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids (Host Committee); The Shubert Organization’s Broadway Technology Accelerator (Cohort Mentor); and the NYC Economic Development Corporation’s Future of Performance Venues roundtable (Subject Matter Expert). Townsend holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arts Management (Indiana University), a certificate in Business & Government Affairs (Georgetown University), and is a certified member of the Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers (ATPAM).
